We have some big news to share: Olympia Dukakis is now attached to star in Dancing on the Elephant!
Olympia Dukakis
Long a vital, respected actor of the classic and contemporary stage, Olympia Dukakis did not become a household name and sought-after film actress until age 56 when she delivered an Oscar-winning performance in Moonstruck (1987). Since then, movie and TV fans have discovered an acting treasure.
Olympia Dukakis has appeared in more than 60 feature and short films, including The Infiltrator, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Look Who’s Talking I, II & III, and Steel Magnolias. Her television appearances are just as numerous and impressive, including roles in Big Driver, Sex & Violence, Forgive Me, Bored to Death, Sinatra (Golden Globe Nominee), Joan of Arc (Emmy Nominee), and Tales of the City. She has performed in over 130 productions Off-Broadway and regionally at theaters including the Public Theater, A.C.T., Shakespeare in the Park, Shakespeare & Co., and the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where she also served as Associate Director. She continues to teach acting at NYU and master classes for professional theatre companies, colleges, and universities across the country. She was bestowed the the National Arts Club Medal of Honor and her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was placed in 2013.
Olympia Dukakis was the 2019 recipient of the prestigious Ally Award from the Human Rights Campaign.
We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Olympia Dukakis join Dancing on the Elephant and look forward to working with her on this project.
